One of the most powerful gifts of good psychotherapy is that we have, in the therapist, someone who stands outside the closed loop of our dysfunction, who sees the possible causes of where we are stuck in ways we can’t see ourselves. The therapist is someone who has both expertise and a desire to help, someone who is trained to look for the underlying psychological causes of our pain and dysfunction, who understands the effects of untreated trauma, damaging role models, and negative beliefs, and has the skills to help free us from the tyranny of repeating strategies for survival that cause endless suffering. 

I was never interested in learning to walk on coals though I know many people have done it without getting burned. Whatever the mind-over-matter technique is, I never wanted to find out. Life itself seems challenging enough without adding hot coals to the mix. The fires of personal disappointment and societal abuse and injustice are hot enough for me.

If you’re anything like me, you probably know how very difficult this can be when you’re triggered or caught in everyday power struggles. We’re so conditioned to react with resistance and the need to be right and get our way, that it usually takes a lot of self-awareness and a commitment to heal relationships rather than dominate them, to actually listen and try to resolve an upset.

Is there a fleet of UFOs or UAPs suddenly swarming earth? I don’t know. I listened to several reports from various news sources. Some say these unidentified flying objects are man-made, either top secret government issue or enemy craft from other countries, and others say their aerial abilities are beyond what mankind is capable of and therefore they are from an alien civilization.
